The Mannheim Palace, built in the Baroque style, consists of several wings: the East Wing, the Court of Honor East, the Middle Building, the Court of Honor West, the South Wing, and the West Wing. In addition, a palace church and the palace library are integrated into the building.
With its length of almost 450 meters and a built-up area of six hectares, the extensive complex is one of the largest castles in Europe. Mannheim Palace is the second largest Baroque palace complex in Europe after Versailles Palace.
The castle is mainly used by the University of Mannheim. In addition to several libraries, there are lecture halls, seminar rooms and offices for science, teaching, and administration within the building, among other things. Mannheim Castle is also open for tours.
The welcome reception on the first day will take place in the middle part of the castle, including the garden room. The symposia and other events will take place in three different lecture halls, including the Aula.
Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is the closest airport to Mannheim (61 km - 30 min by train).
By public transport: from Mannheim central station, take tram line 1, 5 or 7 to the stop Schloss. Alternatively, the palace is ten minutes’ walk from the station.
By car: follow the signs in Mannheim. Parking is available in Parkgarage Universität /Mensa, access via Bismarckstrasse.
